Apple of my Eye visit our school each week to work with different classes from across the school. The children learn about healthy eating and maintaining healthy lifestyles.



Nursery children stayed after school

to enjoyed a cookery club making pizzas!

Nursery children enjoyed the Family Cooking session making a vegetable stir fry.

Year 1

Year 1 have been looking at the topic: Why can't a meerkat live in the North Pole? 

Some of the things the children have been making are:

  • Layered fruit cups to recognise 'warm' and 'cool' colours.

  • Salad and Russian Potato Salad to understand that different foods come from different countries.

  • Layered/ upside down 'Sand' Vanilla Cheesecake with jelly snakes to recognise that a desert is in a hot country (sand).

  • Snow/ North Pole themed polar bear face or paw snack to recognise that snow is in a cold country. (Snow)

Year 2

Year 2 have been looking at the topic: What is a coronation and what does one look like?

Some of the things the children have been making are:

  • Sceptre Fruit Kebab, discussion about the different fruit used, how it is good for us and how each fruit can represent a 'jewel'.

  • Red, White and Blue Cheesecake (Jubilee Cheesecake) to understand that the Union Jack evolved from three countries.

  • Also there were links with our Spanish Day when making Empanada.

Year 4

So far, the children of Year 4 have made Vegetable Kebabs, just as they did in Ancient Rome. 


The children are looking forward to sharing the recipe at home.

4M have made biscuits for the Roman soldiers on their journeys to war.

Year 5

Year 5 have been looking at the topic: Were the Anglo - Saxons really smashing?

Some of the things children have been making are:

  • Anglo Saxon Mini Feast - Blackberries, strawberries, rye bread, cheese, honey, walnuts and dried apricots looking at the types of food available during the Anglo Saxon period.

  • Beowulf's Danish Meatballs where children examined and identified ingredients and discussed origins.

  • Forest Crumble In a Bag where the children had to follow a recipe and write instructions.
