Given the current economic position and number of increased redundancies, some children may become eligible for FSM after schools have closed for the summer. The message below - advises what a parent should do if they become eligible for FSMs during the summer holiday period. Please can schools put the following information on their web site:
Information for parents/Carers: Free School Meals –
If your circumstances change and you think your child is eligible for free school meals after the schools close for the summer break you need to apply for FSMs using the link below
If you are eligible, you will receive a notification confirming this. During school’s summer holiday period, you will be sent vouchers by Liverpool City Council on a fortnightly basis.
Free School Meals - Covid-19
Free School Meals - Vouchers
Parents who are on an income of £7400 or below are eligible for FSM. It is the parent or carers responsibility to apply for Free School Meals to the Local Authority they live in, not which the school is located in.
School can not confirm eligibility only the Local Authority.
We have put the links to Liverpool and Knowsley's online applications for FSM to help here:
If you are eligible then the Local Authority will notify the school in approx 7 days, school will then add your name to the list to be issued a voucher in the next week's voucher allocations.
We will need an up to date email address for you to receive the e-vouchers. Please email your email address to firstname.lastname@example.org letting us know you have applied and have been told you are eligible.
The vouchers are sent out by a company called 'Edenred' so you should check your emails for an email from Edened, please make sure you check your 'Junk' folder in case the email has gone there. Please be patience it is taking about 5 days from school requesting vouchers to parents/carers then receiving them. If by the end of a week you have not received the email/e-voucher then please email email@example.com and let us know. It can take sometime to cancel and reissue a voucher unfortunately this is not a quick system.
The Edenred system is a national system being used by nearly all schools across the UK so at times is slow and does unfortunately have queues to access the website, this is the same for school we also get put in the queue and we share your frustration, but again sadly there is nothing we can do to speed this up. Please try to access the site outside of peak times to gain quicker access, we have found after 9pm is a good time.
Children's Centres are NO longer issuing vouchers and can not assist with e-vouchers as it is individual schools who have access to the Edenred system. If you are having any issues with vouchers please email us firstname.lastname@example.org this is the quickest way to get issues resolved.
Once you have received your e-voucher you will need to claim the voucher online and assign it to a specific supermarket before you can spend it. The website for this process is:
